Third reich Mothers Cross in Gold.- Ehrenkreiz der Deutschen Mutter Erste Stufe.

Instituted in December 1938, this highly respected award was presented to German Mothers bearing 8 or more children, and required more production processes than any other award of the era, being the creation of architect Franz Berberich. Presentation was made on Mothering Sunday, the second sunday in May, the first awards being rendered on 21st May 1939, the last in 1944.
This example is in fine condition, having no chips to the enamel or damage to the obverse inscription of " 16 December 1938" (the institution date) and Hitlers signature.
The award was worn around the neck on a blue ribbon of 10mm width with 2 white stripes at the edge. The award presented here retains approximately 6 inches of this ribbon.
