Third Reich imperial Hirschfänger Clamshell

Plain gilded brass based clamshell is just under 3 inches at its widest point, and judging by its design and construction is probably of the imperial era, and would have come from a dagger of moderate proportions. Numbered "26" to an inner surface, this would be a useful spare or interesting period collectable in its own right.
