German Vintage Hunting Knife
A most unusual knife having a Bowie type blade some six inches in length and extremely sharp, stamped to the upper ricasso "Hand Forged". Grip appears to be a heavy slice of stag horn. Making this knife so unusual is the crossguard, one end of which terminates in a meticulously carved and finely detailed puma or lions head. (Maybe made by puma)This superb carving appears to be in silver and forms an integral part of the crossguard.(possibly silver)When discovered this knife was contained within the leather scabbard which interestingly has an RZM stamped Spring clip sewn to the upper ridge.
A beautiful example of craftsmanship for hunting or forestry, which may have been carried during the war.
