Third Reich Waffen Loesche Forestry Bayonet-Chromolit

Although designated a bayonet by the collecting community, these weapons were effectively a hunting knife worn by the Luftwaffe units assigned to protect installations within the rural areas of Germany.
This example is particularly desirable, having prolific markings on both the dagger itself and the brown leather frog.
Stag grips are beautifully toned brown, and are correctly attached to the steel hilt by three unturned countersunk nuts and bolts. Oval steel crossguard is in fine condition and stamped "256" to the obverse and "471" to the reverse. Excellent blade has no damage to the edges, and is marked with the makers details to the obverse: "Ch.A.W." (Chromolit Arthur Wingen) and with the distributors details to the reverse :Waffen Loesche Berlin. The letter "H" is stamped into the upper spine. Black painted scabbard shows age spidering with no dents. Brown leather scabbard is of four rivet construction and is in excellent condition having numerous stampings to the reverse, including manufacturers name and date,regimental assignment and the Luftwaffe "LBA" marking. Wrapped about the frog is a late war Luftwaffe knot in excellent condition.
