Third Reich Army Officers Dagger-Retailer Marked Eickhorn
Pommel, ferrule and crossguard are in mint condition having all the artificial ageing in the background. Crossguard eagle with outstretched wings is particularly striking having remarkable detail to the breast and wing feathering, and to the swastica clutched in the birds talons. Bright blade has no damage to the edges with minor signs of age and scratching primarily to the obverse. Eickhorn 35-41 trademark is on the reverse ricasso while the obverse is marked to the Viennese retailer ““MILITARWARENHAUS, DURBECK, WIEN IX,”. on three lines. Scabbard is in in fine condition with age toning to the panels, and has a curious hole at the tip, presumably for hanging or display???? Throat is secured by a single screw in the obverse normally obscured by the crossguard eagle.
Fine piece made more desirable by the addition of a retailers stamp.
