Third Reich HJ Winner Plaque
A Hitlerjugend “Dem Sieger” Baden Sportfest Plakette 1939 in it’s fitted case by B. H. Mayer of Pforzheim. This plaque would have been awarded to members of the HJ who performed rigorous athletic drills and met strict physical fitness standards. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been finished in a lacquered coating. The rectangular shaped obverse features (from top to bottom) a Hitler Youth Eagle, with open wings clutching a broad sword in one of its talons and a mallet in the other with a mobile swastika on its chest, beside “1938”and above “Dem Sieger” (The Winner) and “Bann U. Untergau Sportfest Gebiet Baden” (Sports Festival Baden Area Hitler Youth). The reverse is maker marked “B. H. Mayer, Pforzheim” to the bottom. It measures approximately 2 ¼ inches wide by 3 inches tall. The plaque comes housed in its appropriate issue case. It is a typical wood and pressed cardboard covered in a simulated maroon leather. The interior lid is covered in a white material. The base is covered in a cream velvet like material and outline the plaque. The case shows typical age but has no damage. It measures: 3 1/4 x 4 x 3/4.
