Imperial Hirschfanger-Clemen & Jung

This massive piece appears to be the style of knife which would have delivered the “coup de gras” to a boar or similar animal following the hunt. Triple etched, slab style blade has beautiful floral etchings and features a stag and a boar on the obverse and reverse. Lower half of blade has a superb etched pattern reminiscent of a Damascus small roses etch. The Clemen and Jung shield style logo is heavily stamped to the ricasso. Crossguard is very plain and functional in the form of a heavy steel based cross surmounted by a double lined ferrule. Beautiful, tactile stag grip is secured by a lined pommel and cone shaped tang nut. Brown leather scabbard has twin line decoration to obverse and reverse and a single join to the rear. Leather, and stapled scabbard fittings in remarkable condition, matching the rest of this astonishing piece. Brown leather suspension frog matches perfectly and has no damage. Completing this rig is an early period portepee wrapped about the grip of large proportions.
Perfect item for the hunting/forestry collector.
