Third Reich RLB Second Model RLB Officer Dagger- Weyersberg
Superb example of the 2nd model dagger, which has all the attributes of being a converted first model, a frequent occurrence during the period. First indicators of conversion are the quality of the heavy solid nickel fittings, and the presence of a waffenampt on the end of the crossguard arm and the scabbard throat. Crossguard eagle and mobile swastica are well formed having no hits or other damage. Crossguard arms are undamaged having much darkening remaining in the recesses. Wood based grip has beautifully grained Moroccan leather with an almost indiscernible vertical join. Attached to the grip is the second version of the RLB insignia having all the black enamel to the swastica. Pommel cap is nicely vaulted and retains much of the factory darkening to the peripheral decorative inset. Plated blade is mint, having the typical thin black leather washer and the Weyersberg logo to the reverse ricasso. Matching Moroccan leather to the scabbard is in fine condition having no damage and only minor pressure depressions to the surface. All screws are present to the scabbard fittings (lower screw appears to be a period replacement) which are in fine condition.
Overall a superb example of the type of “Art Deco” style dagger, which would be a perfect match with the hangers available on the site.
