Third Reich NSFK Flyers Dagger-Helbig

Excellent example of the scarcer “crackle finish” all aluminium dagger by the only accepted producer F & A Helbig.
Two stage pommel with a couple of minor hits to the periphery. All metal grip having the rough, imitation leather finish which has been painted in blue. Fine cast aluminium crossguard having perfect black painted swasticas to the central block -these swasticas are sometimes found in gold paint. Beneath the crossguard a thin, pebbled blue leather blade washer remains in place. Blade in excellent condition with full crossgrain and the Helbig maker mark to the reverse ricasso. Metal Scabbard in similar “crackle” finish which has been painted to match the grip and has no loss of colour or chipping and imitates a leather finish perfectly. Upper fitting is stamped with the “Icarus” acceptance stamp and retains both its side mounted, flush screws as does the lower fitting.
Attached to the upper fitting scabbard ring is a leather covered, aluminium hanger having an unmarked aluminium spring clip attached. This redesign of the suspension was an attempt to combat the flimsiness of the original, all leather version.
Overall an excellent example of the later produced flyers dagger worthy of inclusion in any collection.
