Third Reich Press Photo

Dated January 1938, this 10x8 press photo is a superb study of Goerings uniform and accoutrements, to include not just his Field Marshall Baton but the fabulous wedding sword.
This sword was custom made by Eickhorn, designed by Paul Casberg and presented to the groom on the occasion of his second marriage. The crossguard features the Luftwaffe insignia, the stylized pommel features the order Pour Le Mérite which Göring was awarded during the First World War. The sword was richly encrusted with gems and gold-plated elements. The scabbard was covered with light-blue sharkskin imitating the color of the Luftwaffe parade uniform.
