Third Reich K98 Bayonet-Hörster

This bayonet is unusual in that it was used by the Customs Border Guard (Zollgrenzschutz) who were subordinate to the Reich Finance Administration (Reichsfinanzverwaltung), and has the RFV stamp to the reverse crossguard. Crossguard, backstrap and pommel show no sign of misuse and retain most of their finish. Release button spring is still strong. Bakelite grips are unusual in that they are attached by offset nuts and bolts in the “Pack” style, however the blade is clearly marked “E&F Hörster to both obverse and reverse. Blade retains all its finish other than on the edge, which shows substantial sharpening. Scabbard has no dents and the usual rust put spots beneath the surface anodising.
