Third Reich Pioneer Dress Bayonet Single Etch-Pack
The so called engineers or Pioneers dress bayonet is difficult to find, while finding an etched example is almost impossible. This example has lost much of its bright plating to pommel and crossguard and has a few minor “hammer” hits to the backstrap. Grip plates are perfect and held in place by domed rivets.
Single etched blade on this piece is perfect, having a superb, “in memory of my service time” etch to the obverse. What makes this piece extra special is the additional information beneath the standard etch which indicates that the owner served in Infantry regiment 3, in
“Deutsches-Eylau”.
This is a town in northern Poland, now the capital of Iława County in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The “Siegfried Waffen” E. Pack logo is present on the reverse ricasso, and a black leather blade washer is present beneath the crossguard.
Scabbard retains much of its black finish and is undented. Black Dress frog is in excellent condition having a fine portepee about its waist in the correct tie.
