Third Reich Customs Clamshell Bayonet-Clemen & Jung

An early nickel bayonet, identical in every way to the police version apart from the badge which no longer appears on the grip. Eagles head pommel with good detail to the feathering and to the eye area. The crossguard has the raised out oak leaves on the obverse however on the reverse, only the end of the quillon has the oak leaves. The plain portion is blank as this was an officers piece which would not have had property numbers. Clamshell shows much hand enhancement to the eagle and pebbled background, and has the initials “C&J” stamped into its underside beneath the leather blade washer. Unadorned stag grips are expertly fitted using rivets which are domed and dressed on the obverse. Bright plain blade grades mint having no damage or signs of age. The reverse ricasso is stamped with the name of the manufacturer and with their crowned, Z in a shield makers mark. Black leather scabbard has no damage or scuffs, having twin decorative lines to both sides and a seam to the reverse. Upper and lower fittings retain all their bright finish and are secured with staples, both being very slightly loose. Frog/hanger is the approved type having a leather “ring” to engage with the scabbard lug and a length adjustable teardrop hanger. The transverse grip strap remains in place and is in excellent condition.
Hard to find rig, particularly in this state of preservation and with the correct accoutrements.
