Third Reich SA Dagger-Eickhorn
Fine, “woodwork” example of the fully ground “Röhm” dagger. Nickel crossguards have the deep accent grooves typical of this producer and fit the fruitwood grip perfectly, -this dagger has never been apart. Lower guard is stamped with the “P” Gau designation to the centre reverse. Grip itself is in perfect condition and has beautiful vertical crossgrain. The S.A. roundel is perfectly inset without cracking, as is the grip eagle. This eagle is a “long necked” example and retains all the detail to the birds feathered wings and breast. Great to see 80 years worth of dirt and grime embedded within the folds of the birds wings and the wreathed swastica. Bright blade has some minor signs of age to both faces but retains a deep “Alles für Deutschland” slogan to the obverse. Reverse has a deeply stamped makers mark correctly positioned close to the crossguard, allowing room for the Röhm dedication on the blade. This dedication has been totally eradicated by grinding, and has been done well, but this is not a Factory regrind. Anodised scabbard retains most of its finish and much lacquer. Scabbard fittings have no damage, and screws which appear to be unturned.
An excellent example of a Röhm dagger straight from a veterans family.
