Third Reich Bahnschutz Bayonet-Lüneschloss

Extremely rare bayonet attributed to the German railway, and bearing a raised, winged railway wheel and swastica to the clamshell. Background is pebbled and has oak leaves and laurel leaf decoration. Reverse is numbered “125” matching the number inscribed to the rear of the crossguard, the obverse of the crossguard having oak leaf embellishment. Stag grips are beautifully fitted and secured to the tang with aluminium rivets. An open format police insignia is correctly attached to the obverse grip, and shows little wear to the highlights of the eagles chest or wreathed, mobile swastica. Eagle head pommel has little wear and much hand enhancement to the feathering and eagles eye. Plated blade is some 13 inches in length having little age signs, reverse ricasso area is stamped “ P.D. Lüneschloss Solingen” along the blade. Leather scabbard has no liner and is in fine condition having twin decorative line decoration to both sides and a prominent seam to the reverse. Upper fitting is stamped “P.M. 164” to the reverse and has the large throat screw to the obverse. Both fittings are undamaged and secured with a staple. Frog is of dark brown/black leather and is of four rivet construction. All stitching is intact, and a portepee is wound about the waist in the correct tie. Portepee has a leather strap with triple lines of silver or gold stitching with gold or tarnished silver stem, crown and ovular acorn. A black/dark blue or purple felt insert is in the base of the acorn.
For the bayonet collector, this would be an outstanding exhibit.
