Third Reich TENO Officers Dagger-Low Issue No.

This original TENO dagger has the lowest issue number we have ever seen on these massive and magnificent pieces, being 0453, stamped into the upper scabbard throat and the obverse ricasso. Only the earliest pieces had stamped numbers, later produced examples were etched in these locations.
Cogwheel style pommel has no damage but has lost much of its plating. Toned orange grip has a small chip to the reverse. Wrapped about the grip, in the correct tie, is an original and extremely rare officers portepee having a black highlight woven into the strap. No damage to the silver slide, stem, crown or acorn. (This item is worth a considerable sum as a stand alone item)
Crossguard retains most of its plating and has a highly detailed and well defined open winged eagle clutching a swastica in its talons. It is worth noting that the reverse of the swastica shows the circular mark, made during the production process, which is present on all original crossguards, but is missing on reproductions.
Bright blade has a needle point and no damage, with some signs of a half hearted attempt at light sharpening to both edges. The Teno eagle and ‘Ges Gesch ‘ is etched into the reverse ricasso, along with the Eickhorn ‘35-‘41 trademark. Scabbard has some signs of the original factory darkening remaining in the recesses. Stippled panels are well defined with one very small ‘train door’ crease to the lower edge. Scabbard bands and rings are perfectly secured and there is a single throat screw to the upper reverse.
An extremely early example complete with the never seen officers portepee.
