Third Reich Luftwaffe Officers Sword-Helbig

These early quality Luft swords are such impressive items for display, hard to imagine carrying something of this weight around all day!
No damage to the nickel silver pommel, or to the brass “sun wheel” swastica inserts. Moroccan leather covered grip complete with twin strands of twisted brass wire. Some minor loss of colour to leather, easily covered with “Meltonian” polish. Nickel silver based crossguard has superbly hand crafted downswept quillions, and is stamped with the number “96”. This number is repeated on the upper scabbard throat. Blue leather washer is present beneath the crossguard. Bright blade is in fine condition without nicks or other damage, and is some 30.5 inches in length. Lightly stamped to the upper reverse ricasso is the F & A Helbig logo and a waffenampt.
Scabbard leather is excellent having fine grain visible in the surface and with no damage to the seam. Any minor imperfections to the leather would again cover easily with the appropriate polish. Attached to the upper scabbard fitting is a blue leather “crescent” hanger in excellent condition, these hangers are very hard to find at all, let alone in this state of preservation. Scabbard fittings are nickel and in fine condition being securely attached to the shell.
