Third Reich Kriegsmarine Officers Sword-Alcoso

A fine example of the depot issued Officers sword complete with its original portepee.
Lion head pommel retains much of its gilding and is without jewelled eyes, as is correct for depot issued swords. Backstrap is a finely detailed lion’s main terminating in a fully gilded ferrule having superb oak leaf decoration. Off white grip has perfectly wound twisted wire decoration and is in perfect condition. Knuckle guard retains much gilding and is ornately decorated. Folding crossguard retains its spring return and much of its gilding. Scabbard lock to the reverse has kriegsmarine eagle “M” stamping and the Nordsee depot number “N2720”. This number is repeated on the reverse upper scabbard fitting. A red felt washer remains in place beneath the crossguard.
“Pipe back” blade is in fine condition without damage or blemish and retains a needle like tip. The Alcoso trademark is prominent to the reverse ricasso area. Scabbard fittings have no damage and retain much of the gilding. Upper fitting has lost its staple but is still securely attached. The number “18” is visible beneath the staples. Scabbard leather is in excellent condition requiring any a little polish to bring it to a near mint state. Completing this rig is a period original portepee in the correct tie about the grip and knuckle guard. In excellent condition and having the “cats anus” style infil to the base of the acorn.
