Third Reich SA Dagger Feldherrnhalle Frog

Superb example of a very rare frog designed for use by the SA Standarte Feldherrnhalle .
The SA-Standarte Feldherrnhalle was formed in 1935 and renamed Feldherrnhalle in 1936. It was the elite unit of the SA and guarded important SA, state and party offices. Its headquarters were in Berlin and battalions of the unit were stationed in Berlin, Hannover, Hattingen, Krefeld, Munich, Ruhr, Stetten and Stuttgart. It was one of the units that entered Austria in March 1938 and it was placed under the control of the Wehrmacht in September 1938.
This example is in near mint condition and of typical four rivet construction. Exhibits the slot in the leather to receive the eyelet on the scabbard upper fitting once the ring had been removed.
A similar frog is shown in Siegerts SA book on page 46.
RZM marked to the rear M2/441, for the maker Herman Eduard, München, and “Kernstuck”
The later added, crudely cut, frog lug-hole, indicates that this item was repurposed for a dress bayonet at some point.
