Third Reich NSKK Dagger-Reinhard Weyersberg
Extremely nice NSKK dagger, having a period black leather covered scabbard from an uncommon manufacture.
The Reinhard Weyersberg company was founded in 1889, making quality cutlery and luxury articles for the silverware industry. During the Third Reich era, Weyersberg manufactured HJ knives and quality SA daggers with a unique "RW" maker mark, receiving its RZM license in 1935, though it was revoked on May 3, 1938. The company was located in Solingen on Schützenstraße.
Tang nut shows no signs of disassembly in recent years, nickel crossguards have no damage and deep accent grooves. Lower guard is marked “No” to the centre reverse, and fits the grip perfectly, as does the upper guard. Fruitwood grip has the “tiger stripe” markings collectors like to see, and has perfectly inset “runes” button and eagle. Scabbard has a black leather covering which has been skilfully applied to abut the scalloped scabbard fittings, and is without a visible join. All scabbard screws are present to the fittings, the lower fitting having a semi crushed ball.
Fine early example from a rarely encountered manufacturer.
