Third Reich SS Chained Dagger-Böker with Capture Details
The very common scenario in which an M33 dagger has been period upgraded by the addition of a chained scabbard.
Black ebony grip has no chips or pressure marks, and has the runes button and eagle perfectly inset. Upper guard has lost much of its finish, the lower one less so. There is no evidence of any markings on the guards. Tang nut has no signs of ever being disassembled. Wrapped about the grip in the correct tie is period portepee having black flecking in the strap and a silver slide, stem and acorn. Bright blade grades near mint, having minimal “in-out” marks, and a typical, Böker, deep dark etch to the “Meine Ehre Heisst Treue” motto to the obverse. Reverse ricasso has a crisp “Böker Solingen” logo. Scabbard finish is near perfect and all scabbard screws are present, the central fitting having two screws to secure it. Scabbard chain is a type 11 having the SS Kulturzeichen to the reverse of the short chain. Links have very distinct background pebbling and crisp Rune and skull depictions. Completing this superior example is a teardrop hanger and belt loop in black leather which has RZM and SS stamping to the rear.
Accompanying the dagger is a copy of an entry from the diary of an English soldier mentioning the discovery and capture of the piece along with a letter from the veterans son.
Of you only want one SS M36, this could be it.
