Third Reich Pioneer Etched Dress Bayonet-Pack

The so called engineers or Pioneers dress bayonet is difficult to find, while finding an etched example is almost impossible. Crossguard, pommel and backstrap in near perfect condition with all finish remaining. Backstrap has an unusual “knurled” finish. Operating mortice button with red felt in the slot. This example has no maker mark, but is a superb example in every way. Crossguard, backstrap and pommel show no signs of misuse, the pommel having a correctly operating mortice button and a red felt slug in the rifle slot. A Weimar era, municipal police bayonet, converted in the Third Reich period to conform with the rules of the newly centralised police organisation under the command of the Reichsführer SS, Heinrich Himmler.

Third Reich “SS” Dress Bayonet.

This piece, whilst at first glance is “just another bayonet” on closer inspection has crossguard stampings of an SS “Kulturzeichen” and the letter “K” indicating that this bayonet was an issue item at a “konzentrationslager” or concentration camp….

Little to identify this early, wooden gripped K98 saving the stamping “C4708” to the pommel reverse, indicating the 4,708th produced within the "c" block (the third set of 10,000) for that specific year of production. Imperial Bayonet Issued to the R.F.V.-Hörster

This is an unusual piece being marked on the reverse crossguard as being property of the R.F.V. , or Reichsfinanzministerium, the ministry of finance for the German empire between 1919 and 1945.
