Fine example of the locally manufactured leather hanger enabling the dagger to be worn in a vertical position more suitable for marching or field exercises. Made from several pieces of initially brown leather, period stained black for SS use. The local artisan has clearly used several rivets as well as stitching to ensure the integrity of this piece! SS Marked Wooden Box
The original purpose of this most unusual and beautifully hand made box is clearly open to debate, although the inner construction and small holes to the underside may indicate that it once contained a music box mechanism.
