Original miniature basket hilted sword made in Belgium after WWI for sale to tourists visiting the battlefields. Since the economy of the country had been destroyed by war local craftsman resorted to whatever means available to earn a living. Plain gilded brass based clamshell is just under 3 inches at its widest point, and judging by its design and construction is probably of the imperial era, and would have come from a dagger of moderate proportions.
