The Freiwilliger Arbeitsdienst (FAD) was a voluntary organisation established in 1931 as an agency to help mitigate the effects of mass unemployment on German economy, militarise the workforce, and indoctrinate it with Nazi ideology. It was renamed Reichsarbeitsdienst in 1934.

A single board for a junior sergeant in the Freiwilliger Arbeitsdienst-FAD . This was a programme introduced in 1931 whereby young unemployed persons could meet in a labour camp for minimal reward as a forerunner to the RAD.

Ärmelabzeichen for EM/NCO ranks, introduced in 1942, this was a specific, commemorative insignia for former TeNo personnel serving with the armed forces technical troops. Machine woven in silver grey thread. ( Officers insignia were woven in silver/aluminium threads).

Excellent example of a machine woven cuff band for wear on the fatigue and work tunic. The inscription “Technische Nothilfe” is in silver grey Fraktur script on a black rayon blend background with silver grey piping along the top and bottom. Some minor fraying to the top and bottom edges and to the short ends.
