This is an unusual piece being marked on the reverse crossguard as being property of the R.F.V. , or Reichsfinanzministerium, the ministry of finance for the German empire between 1919 and 1945. Both the first and second model subordinate daggers are equipped with black painted or lacquered grips which are subject to chipping and wear, the grip on this piece however is in excellent condition, having a correctly pinned insignia with the majority of the blue enamel remaining.
