Excellent black leather frog having a riveted black metal reinforcement stamped “D.R.P.” to the rear, which stands for Deutsches Reichs-Patent (German Imperial Patent). While some confusion exists, this marking is generally considered to indicate a patented design feature rather than a specific branch of service like the post office (Deutsche Reichspost).
