Prior to 1935, TN members simply wore a national tricolour rosette. A machine-woven national tricolour rosette was also worn on the 1936 version of the Field Cap.
At an unknown time, the Wehrmacht style oak leaves wreath was introduced to complete the cockade and leaves combination.

German dog tag, known as an Erkennunsmarke, an oval metal identification disc historically used by the German military (Wehrmacht) during WWI and WWII. It was designed to be broken in half, with one half remaining with the body of a deceased soldier for identification purposes and the other half sent for record-keeping. read more
